EDUCATION & TRAINING

Dr. John Stechschulte, graduated from the University of Notre Dame, received his medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed an Ophthalmic Surgery Residency at the renowed Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia where he served as Co-Chief Resident from 1983 to 1984. He went onto to complete fellowship training in corneal and anterior segment surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute/University of Miami.

SKILLS & EXPERTISE

Early in his career, Dr. John Stechschulte was part of the original FDA investigator group for excimer refractive surgery and has been recognized for his refractive surgery skills by receiving the VISX “Star” surgeon award in 1995. From 1997 to present, he has been using the VISX excimer laser platform to treat nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness. His current surgical practice focuses more on corneal surgery and cataract surgical procedures.

EXTRACURRICULAR INVOLVEMENT

Dr. John Stechschulte is active on numerous committees, professional boards and educational task forces. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and currently serves on the Senior Ophthalmology Committee. He is also a junior examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Stechschulte is past president of the Ohio Ophthalmological Society, and the Medical Director of the Central Ohio Lions Eye Bank.

HOBBIES & PERSONAL INTERESTS

He and his wife, Jodi, have 5 children. He enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, as well as attending theater, traveling and playing golf.
